pan probs on Avid Xpress DV 3.5

I have Avid Xpress 3.5. For some reason the pan function of the audio
tool (i.e Audio Mix Tool) doesn't work. It doesn't seem to matter
whether I set a track's audio to left mid or right it always comes out
of both speakers. I have Cubase SX and the pan/stereo output on this
works!

Any help gratefully recieved.

Open your audio tool, click the PH button and go to output settings. Change
from mono to stereo--that should solve your problem.
